Bug Description

When not using Unity, the menu bar in gnome-terminal is always shown by default, even when the profile settings are to not do so. This also results in the right-click menu in the terminal having "Show Menubar" as an option, when it is already shown.

The menu bar's mnemonic accellerators conflict with a commonly used Bash keybinding: Alt-F - move forward a word.

Thus not being able to prevent the menu bar from showing by default has a strong negative impact on the usability of gnome-terminal.

Mike, no it doesn't. Try Edit>Keyboard shortcuts and uncheck "Enable menu access keys such as Alt+F to open the File menu."
