Icon aligment is just wrong and it's the first thing users see when they login

Bug Description

I'm not trying to maximize the issue, but icon alignment in the desktop has been long time broken. I don't think anyone will actually leave Ubuntu for this issue, but it's the first thing a user sees when he logs in and it makes an horrendous first impression to see that icons just don't align to cuadricle.

Icons in the desktop just don't align as they do inside Nautilus, horizontally they are fine but vertically there is not alignment at all.

The "resize icon" feature is perfectly compatible with a correct icon alignment. Please fix this!
