Bug Description

When booting my plucky laptop with my external VGA monitor attached I get a login screen in 11.10 that is 1024 x 768 mirrored. It's stretched on the VGA monitor and displayed neatly in the middle of the screen on the laptop. When I boot with no monitor attached the login screen displays at the correct and native resolution of the laptop screen.

External monitor is an HP 2009v and the laptop driving it is an Acer 1810TZ. Their native resolutions are 1600 x 900 and 1366 x 768.

the issue is not a lightdm one, it's xorg doing and not new (gdm was doing that previous cycles as well)
