Thanks for taking the time to submit this bug.
It looks like an alternatives update went awry somewhere.
update- alternatives: error: /var/lib/ dpkg/alternativ es/nmblookup corrupt: invalid status
I see previous cases of this such as bug 526418, but don't know what would have caused it.
Could you provide the output of
ls -l /etc/alternatives dpkg/alternativ es/nmblookup
cat /var/lib/
As with bug 526418, I'd recommend purging the samba packages and moving /var/lib/ dpkg/alternativ es/nmblookup out of the way.
