This is a duplicate of bug 845137. Although it's fixed upstream, it involves a rewrite of nouveau's DisplayPort handling, so isn't appropriate for Oneiric's kernel at this stage of the release process.
This should work in the upstream linux 3.2 kernel, and there should be daily builds of the upstream kernel by the Ubuntu kernel once the kernel.org situation gets resolved.
