Bug Description

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

The PulseAudio daemon doesn't start on IBM Thinkpad R51. Attaching hwinfo and lspci.

wolverian@pupu:~$ pulseaudio -v

What kernel version are you using?
What version of PulseAudio?
It might be the same as bug 76788.

The bug indeed seems to be the same. My pulseaudio version is 0.9.5-5ubuntu2, kernel is 2.6.20.6-generic. Hadn't realised it could be a kernel bug.
