Just fyi, I can duplicate this bug on my Dell desktop with NVIDIA, in both Unity and Unity 2D, but it does NOT happen (can not be duplicated) on my Gateway laptop with ATI video card. Both are 64 bit installs of 11.10. On the Gateway laptop with ATI card, where Banshee works just fine, when I first connect the device, before Banshee is ever started, I get a pop-up advising my that iPod is locked, unlock it and "Try Again". I do not get that pop-up on my desktop with NVIDIA card. Just one of literally dozens of issues that I have on my NVIDIA desktop that I do not have on my ATI based laptop. Not sure who, if anyone, this will help in tracking it down, but for what it's worth.
