Now I don't get the same error anymore, but probably not because the bug doesn't exist anymore, rather because now I get bug #83979 ...
Could it be that it's rather a Python error?

I have the same error on a liveCD trial on my laptop (ASUS W7J). I was browsing my "bluetooth" section in HAL and it crashed the same way. I also attach my lshal for info.

hal-device-manager does not exist any more in hardy, it was removed upstream. gnome-device-manager is the replacement.
