Session Indicator System Updates status not accurate

Bug Description

Once I perform a sudo apt-get update, I can see the updates available in Update Manager, but the session indicator still shows as "System Up to Date" instead of "Updates Available" even after waiting for 5 to 10 minutes. Attaching screenshot for reference.
