Gnome menu convention: Alt+E, C is "Cut" and not "Copy"

Normally when working in an application in Gnome, generally when one presses Alt+E, the Edit menu appears and then C will select "Copy". The non-menu, direct alternative is Ctrl+C.

Pressing Alt+E, T will generally select "Cut". The non-menu direct alternative is Ctrl+X

xmlcopyeditor doesn't follow this convention for the menu driven letter shortcuts.

Instead, Alt+E, C does Cut ... and Copy is Alt+E, O - I find myself cutting stuff all the time rather than copying.

This goes against convention in just about every Windows and Gnome app I've used. I expect, from a usability perspective, for an application to follow certain conventions.
