Bug Description
This allows me to switch on Japanese input with Ibus:
$ env XMODIFIERS=
However, I can't switch off the IME using the keyboard (as far as I can tell). If I go up to the Ibus menu and choose to restart Ibus, Amsn segfaults. Besides, with the XMODIFIERS environmental variable set to "@im=ibus" (the default value on Japanese Ubuntu installations), deadkeys don't work, so I can't press e.g. the acute accent key followed by "e" to get "é".
This allows me to use deadkeys:
$ env XMODIFIERS='' amsn
However, at the same time, it disables Ibus, so I can't type in Japanese text.
I can't find any settings allowing me to both use deadkeys and Ibus at the same time. This is annoying, as I need both of them. Sure, I can type in the text in an external program and use the copy & paste functionality, but that is more troublesome than typing in the characters directly.
This is not a duplicate of bug 577169 as the Norwegian characters æøå have their own keys on Nordic keyboards and neither require deadkeys nor Ibus.
