Bug Description

I installed the patch from this site http://people.canonical.com/~sforshee/lp681904/psmouse-elantech-dkms/v0.2/ so that my touchpad could be properly recongnized. It is now recognized. however vertical/horizontal scrolling doesn't work properly, and movements are not precise (moves too fast even not set to the fastest option), besides everytime i reboot, movement speed decreases and any change I've made in scrolling/pointer speed is lost....

I use Linux Mint 11, on a samsung rv411 and my kernel version is 2.6.38-8.

on dmesg:

I confirm this. I use Ubuntu 11.10 and have similar issue. The touchpad sesitivity is horrible - much too low. When touchpad was not propertly recognised, sensitivity was pretty okay - as in Windows 7 ( I have dualboot ). Changes in 50-synaptics.conf are not this what I want.

The most strange thing is that when i scroll up/down using two finger scrolling, sensitivity seems to be okay - as in Windows.

Regards

This sounds like bug 681904. There you find comments referring a new Elantech driver which improved touchpad sensitivity of our Samsung SF510.

I mark this bug as duplicate. If you don't agree then feel free to unmark it again: just click on "! Duplicate of..." (top-right of this page), remove the number and press Enter.

I have this too. On a clean install the sensitivity isn't great at all. You have to press quite hard to even move the cursor so it's as if the pressure settings are wrong and just generally doesn't work well. I believe this to be a different bug Rather than a duplicate. Indeed the touch pad was detected wrong but that has now been fixed with a kernel update. Two separate issues.
