problem with update manager

Bug Description

when i started update manager it showed an error "an unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information.
Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:
'E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/in.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_natty_main_binary-i386_Packages, E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.' i'm using ubuntu 11.04

This bug is missing log files that will aid in diagnosing the problem. From a terminal window please run:

apport-collect 837466

and then change the status of the bug to 'Confirmed'.

If, due to the nature of the issue you have encountered, you are unable to run this command, please add a comment stating that fact and change the bug status to 'Confirmed'.

you should try to update with the other tools:

sudo apt-get update
sudo synaptic

this sometimes happen due to borked network server/mirror link or simply corrupted copy on hdd.

i have opened terminal and ran apport-collect 837466 and the following msg is shown

well dino99 i have tried to update with other tools as u suggested and i'm getting the following msg .
Reading package lists... Error!
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/in.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_natty_main_binary-i386_Packages
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
please help me
