Bug Description
I'm using thunderbird with imap-folders with lots of child folders. New e-mail can arrive in any of them. I'm only interested in new e-mail in certain folders (the others are filed away for reference). That brings me to my wishlist item:
I would like to have the ability to choose which folders to include in the indicator, so the indicator does not lose its meaning in big folders.

I've had to disable this feature due to the reasons the OP mentions. If you have more than a trivial amount of folders that receive mail, It's useless as it and renders the messaging menu alert also useless since it is constantly "alerting". I would be happy if the TB preference to "Only show for messages in my inbox folder" worked, but any way to limit the folders this checks would help.
