Bug Description

I have an M-Audio Delta 44 sound card and it is supported via ALSA in the 2.8.x
series of kernels. I have the following modules loaded:

snd_ice1712 58692 5
snd_ice17xx_ak4xxx 4224 1 snd_ice1712
snd_pcm_oss 48168 0
snd_mixer_oss 16640 3 snd_pcm_oss
snd_pcm 85540 2 snd_ice1712,snd_pcm_oss
snd_page_alloc 11144 1 snd_pcm
snd_timer 23172 1 snd_pcm
snd_ak4xxx_adda 5888 2 snd_ice1712,snd_ice17xx_ak4xxx
snd_cs8427 10112 1 snd_ice1712
snd_ac97_codec 59268 1 snd_ice1712
snd_i2c 5504 2 snd_ice1712,snd_cs8427
snd_mpu401_uart 7296 1 snd_ice1712
snd_rawmidi 23232 1 snd_mpu401_uart
snd_seq_device 7944 1 snd_rawmidi
snd 50660 18 snd_ice1712,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,s
nd_timer,snd_ak4xxx_adda,snd_cs8427,snd_ac97_codec,snd_i2c,snd_mpu401_uart,snd_r
awmidi,snd_seq_device
soundcore 9824 3 snd

It seems the right modules are loaded, but when I try to access a sound
application in GNOME it says:

--
An error occured
Your OSS device could not be probed correctly
--

I have turned up all my volumes in the Volume Control and unlocked and unmuted
everything.

OK, thanks to subterrific on #ubuntu, it seems that the source of the problem is
that in gstreamer-properties, everything relating to audio needs to be changed
to ALSA and not OSS.
