lightdm login screen taking up small proportion of the screen

In a recent update (Wed 24th Aug 2011) lightdm now does not take up the full extent of the screen and instead only uses a small portion of it. This can be seen in the attached photo.

Just another quick piece of information - this only happens when I have my laptop plugged into my external monitor. On my laptop screen this bug doesn't occur.

Suspicious... Might be getting the resolutions mixed up between screens?

I have run sudo xdiagnose and flipped on graphics debugging messages and attached dmesg1 which shows my dmesg output when booting the machine and getting to lightdm where I see this issue. Hope this helps.
