I installed the nvidia drivers on a fully update Oneiric system tonight and this appeared after I rebooted. It did not appear with the nouveau drivers.

I get a white empty box when I first log in, then if I use a program that minimizes to tray (e.g. Xchat and Exaile), I get a huge icon in the white box - see attached screenshot.

I had systray-whitelist set to "all" in dconf-editor. After resetting it to "default" the white box went away.

Resetting to default is not a fix, just to be clear.
