Please sync alliance 5.0-20110203-3 from Debian Sid[1] and close bug LP: #185429

Alliance is a complete set of free CAD tools and portable libraries for VLSI design. It includes a VHDL compiler and simulator, logic synthesis tools, and automatic place and route tools.

Alliance provides CAD tools covering most of all the digital design flow:

 * VHDL Compilation and Simulation
 * Model checking and formal proof
 * RTL and Logic synthesis
 * Data-Path compilation
 * Macro-cells generation
 * Place and route
 * Layout edition
 * Netlist extraction and verification
 * Design rules checking

Feature Freeze is the latest approval date (July 21st 2011 for "Oneiric" aka Ubuntu 11.10): it is recommended to get things done in a couple weeks earlier, as getting approval may take some time. REVU days are planned through Feature Freeze, but the last days are likely only to grab packages that are really required to meet the feature goals for the release.

Alliance is free software and there isn't alternative in Ubuntu repository.

Thank you for taking the time to request this package and helping to make Ubuntu better. For a feature freeze exception you should stick to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess#FeatureFreeze_for_new_packages

I've subscribed ubuntu-release for you. In the future please write a good description stating why the package is important to help the team decide.
