I effectively did nothing at the time of the crash:
* created map layer (osmarender)
* imported some waypoints and tracks from my garmin etrex venture hc
* added 1 waypoint manually
* searched some information in firefox and left viking untouched for some minutes
* viking crashed
in shell I found multiple lines like this:
