bug report out of ubuntu user experience is awful

OR go to the lauchpad site and click the 'report a bug' ling. IT sends you to that page.

IT SHOULD: bring me to the form I am filling out right now.

The results are inconsistent with the labels, and if it takes me, a 6 year ubuntu user, ten minutes to find this form, then most of the users reporting bugs will not, since it isn't worth their time.

The: report at lauchpad section for the document is halfway down, while the KDE bug is at top.

Why not put them with icons: the big KDE icon and the link for kubuntu bugs, and a LARGE BOLD notice that you can report bugs online, with maybe some text explaining more detail needs to be added.

make it so even an idiot understands what happened, and maybe an advanced option, and a quick button to report.

IE:

Firefox is no longer working. -- Gets the message to those who didn't realize
It got stuck trying to make javascript run faster. -- (optimizer froze/inifinite looped) tells what is wrong, user freindly ish
(Help us fix it) -- button that sends the report

-- optionally another option to maybe disable that feature for the next run, to see if the app runs properly, then ask them on close if they want to keep the setting until the issue is resolved. (should reset settings when the bugs is fixed)

Just a note that a majority of ubuntu bug reports come from apport, not manual bug submissions.

As you noticed, reporting bugs about Ubuntu via Launchpad is a special case that takes you to the wiki page (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs) instead of to the actual bug filing page like every other project in Launchpad. The Ubuntu project prefers this approach due to the high number of bugs being reported. As IKT noted above, a majority of Ubuntu bugs come into Launchpad via the automated apport system.

Your suggestions on rewording the Launchpad timeout page is a good one. We always strive to eliminate unnecessary jargon. The OOPS id is a very important indicator and I feel having it readily visible for all outweighs problems of novice users not being able to find it when needed.
