empathy using old notification-area instead of indicator

In oneiric empathy is not using indicator but only the old notification area.

Confirming here. Empathy is using both old and new indicator (look into the messaging menu).

I recently upgraded to 11.10 and Empathy no longer indicates that I have a new chat message except for the bubble popup that stays for just a few seconds. If I miss that bubble, I don't see any indicator but I can see if someone sent me a message by opening the contacts list and looking for blinking icons in that list. Chats used to open up in new windows and I used to see some kind of indicator in the system tray in addition to the bubbles.

Let me know how I can help to get this resolved as it is quite frustrating.

Some have mentioned old and new indicator, maybe there is a way to enable the old indicator so I at least have a way to know that a message has arrived.
