Thank you for the bug report. Could you please install the firefox-dbg package and try to obtain a backtrace (or crash report) by following the instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

Which flash package do you have installed?
Which Java package do you have installed?
Which firefox extensions do you have installed?

I have installed and uninstalled several multimedia software packages trying to get all the major news media streams to work. Finally, I am down to Mplayer, w32codecs and Flash 9, as installed from Firefox, itself. Every thing is working right now except "Fox News" Flash, I get sound but no video. I am trying to reproduce the "bug". I can't seem to make it disappear since the last online update of Ubuntu Feisty Alpha 3. I am still working. My goal is to put together a system that will "do", email, web surfing and word processing for none geeks. I have been working with personal computers since 1975, even before msdos, but only seriously with Linux since Ubuntu Dapper.
So, I don't understand much about the Linux program itself. I gave up on Red Hat years ago.
I must admit I try all parts of Edgy and Feisty to see if I can put together non Microsoft systems for
my non-geek friends.

Firefox just disappeared while clicking on link
in Ubuntu realeases. I think that it was Edgy
intel 386...

I have flash 9
Java 5.0
No extentions installed

When I clicked Firefox again and "restored" it worked fine.

I think that when it disappeared before I was
clicking on links in "Sourceforge"

I could not figure out how to get any other information because it did not show a crash report.

Is the crash report package 'apport-gtk' installed on your system?

I discovered that when I uninstalled "totem-Mozilla" plugin Firefox
stopped disappearing. I could reinstall "totem-Mozilla" and go to
a web page that had any Windows media files and Firefox would
disappear.

I uninstalled "totem-mozilla" again and installed Mplayer and the media plugins and I have no more problems. I do not use Totem for
any internet streams. It must be keyed to "totem-mozilla"
