Unity launcher and overlay background colours are horrible

Bug Description
The dynamic background colour of the Unity launcher and overlay results in some totally hideous colours, which make it impossible to use Unity.
Since I am using the special slideshow wallpaper which cycles between the different wallpapers, the colour keeps changing and I haven't seen one yet which actually works.
