this was just an error that appeared while trying to revert back to gnome2 from a gnome3 trial install. not sure if its actually a bug.

thank you for your bug report but downgrading from unofficial ppa is not supported and not a distribution bug, you can probably workaround it by reinstallaing the oneiric gnome-icon-theme version
