No DHCP server but installer reports DHCP success.

Bug Description

During the install process, the installer attempted and reported success in
finding a DHCP server when there was no DHCP server on the network. It was very
easy to reconfigure using a static IP after the install, but I would expect the
installer to fail and allow me to configure those settings manually before
proceeding.

I have an nforce2 based motherboard with a built in ethernet device. I'm not
sure which module it uses.

I have to say that this seems very unlikely to me, from the code and from
experience; the DHCP request wouldn't return positively unless it got a DHCP
reply. Are you sure that there's no DHCP server on the network, perhaps on a
portion you don't control?

Wow. I had completely forgotten about this.

I think it's very likely that a DHCP server on my network (perhaps my broadband
router) was turned on and responded to the request.
