I have just encountered this problem on running the Ubuntu 11.10 live CD, whilst my printer was connected.
Now this was on running the live CD with all defaults, which selected the US keyboard (I have a UK keyboard). However
if I run the CD and select, during the boot, the UK keyboard then colord does NOT crash!

Don't know if this was the fundamental cause - but my experience was following a reboot after the latest update the display was scrambled and the computer unusable

I also encountered this bug with the live CD. Doesn't seem to affect Ubuntu 11.10 once it is installed. FWIW I have a Deskjet printer (842C) connected.

An update: the problem in my case seems to have been the result of dust on the CD. Cleaning off the CD and rebooting made everything work fine... Go figure.

"colord crashed with SIGSEGV" is the message I had by apport.

It occured just after the boot.

This morning again, lightdm wasn't launched automatically. I had to log in and to launch it with the command "sudo lightdm".

Has it been fixed anyway?
