Bug Description

When logged in as michaelh1, doing a bzr branch lp:gcc-linaro/4.6 in a shared repository runs for a very long time.

I waited an hour yesterday and then killed it. The progress read '2301kB 0kB/s \ Finding revisions'. The total kept slowly ticking up.

It worked yesterday morning. This is from an EC2 instance using bzr 2.3.4 from Natty. I see the same from chinstrap.

Hi, Michael,

I'm happy to be able to say that a fix has been written and is being
reviewed and tested:
<https://code.launchpad.net/~jameinel/bzr/2.4-too-much-walking-388269/+merge/71852>

If you branch from lp:~jameinel/bzr/2.4-too-much-walking-388269, run
'make' in there and then run that bzr, things should be much better.
John and I would much appreciate information on how much that improves
things or not. Please also put 'debug_flags = hpss' into your
~/.bazaar/bazaar.conf first.

Thanks,
Martin
