Bug Description

In a number of cases, Wubi installs, but the windows boot manager fails to show on reboot. It turns out that the "Time to display operating systems" is set to zero, so Windows just boots the default (windows). The fix is to:
Right click on Computer, Properties, Advanced system settings, Startup & recovery - modify the time to display operating systems to 15 or 30.

There have been cases on XP but it seems to be more common on Windows 7.

Wubi code seems to be running: bcdedit /timeout 10
Not sure why it doesn't always work. On my computer the original setting was 30 and now it's 10 so it definitely seems to have worked, however, there are regular support requests about this. !?

Note that timeout apparently has to be 6 or above for it even to show.

It's still not clear why wubi fails to set this on some computers, but does on others.

Changed in wubi:
status: New → Confirmed

On my system the timeout was originally set to 30 (this is a heavily used network machine, test bed, and media server and uses the MS Recovery console) and was set to 2 after wubi ran. It takes at least 6 seconds for that screen to even appear, so it never showed up. Reset the timeout to 30 and all is working again.
