Bug Description
The Ubuntu Software Center 4.0.4 is not be working on my 11.04 x64 (2.6.38-10-generic) after update . It goes to the "get software" section and lists the various categories, however upon clicking those categories, it shows the little pin-wheel as if its loading, though it stays on that pin-wheel indefinitely. The same thing for when I use the search box. It is also doing the same thing for the "installed software" section. In addition, it there is no sign of the additional repositories that I have added either. Also additional packages that I download from net also fails to install via software center but can be installed via dpkg.

nithin_aneesh, you say dpkg works. Does apt-get work?
I ask because on Reddit, someone described the same symptoms, but in their case, apt-get did not work either, with the error “The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened”. <http:// www.reddit. com/r/Ubuntu/ comments/ jjfyp/trouble_ with_software_ center/>
