Bug Description

I used l-f-i-ui to fetch the 11.07 developer image for vexpress and told it to write to a file; I typed the file into the box as

vexpress-11.07.img

assuming it would land in the current directory - but it didn't; it seemed to complete all the steps and I never found where that file landed! (I'll probably find 4GB of files in a years time...)

(It all works fine if I specify an absolute path using the chooser).

James, is this something you can reproduce? I didn't see any chdir or cwd usage in the main linaro-fetch-image-ui script that would relate, but maybe I missed it

Yes, have recreated this. They end up in /root.

Given this is a UI tool, I don't think that the current working directory is a great default location - if you run it using alt+f2 or create a menu item for it, it will be running from somewhere that isn't user writable, but since the tool is running as root it can write anywhere.

Anyone got an opinion about where to put output files?

Just don't allow relative paths; default to the current directory in the file browser dialog.
