Bug Description

Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

I'm trying to migrate from Mozilla to Thunderbird, but TB failed to import my profile and crashed instead. The profile works fine with mozilla, but i've to admit it was used a long time and with many diffrent mozilla-versions.

Is this still an issue for you? We are trying to trying sort out the older Mozilla issues and would like to know if this still happens. If so can you please attach the full crash report with a fully updated system.

Yes it still happens. But I've problems generating the crash report you've asked for (I've recently upgraded to feisty). When using KDE it just crashes silently (DOUBLE-CLICK: 250 --> -1 THRESHOLD: 8 --> -1 Segmentation fault (core dumped)) but i can't find any core-files. When using gnome "apport" pops up (at least it used to a few times, now it stopped for some reason) and generates a crash-report. But I didn't find a way to save it somewhere. It always tries to generate a new bugreport.
Can you help me? How do i get the needed files? And why isn't apport showing up anymore - is it because I walked through the bugreporting process until one step before the end to see if i could get hold of the generated report somewhere?

Maybe there is a version, but I wasn't able to find it and got no help in the ubuntu-forums either. But what is wrong with the gnome crash-report (if i can get it somewhere out of apport)

"Apport showing up" was disabled by default, you should search for
crashes at /var/crash. If after a new crash there isn't a report we
(you) can retrace the crash on the fly ([1]).

If this is still an issue, and you have time for helping, we need a step
by step test case to reproduce the issue, and a new crash report (please
submit it to [2]) to retrace it with debug symbols.

AllesMeins, any help on this would be very appreciated.

Regards,

H. Montoliu.

I had something weird happen today with Thunderbird (mozilla-thunderbird 1.5.0.13-0ubuntu0.7.04) after 6 months error free use; it suddenly would not load (DOUBLE-CLICK: 250 --> -1 THRESHOLD: 8 --> -1 Segmentation fault (core dumped)) and not generating a current crash file. Reloading the Desktop did nothing so I un-installed Thunderbird and purge all its' bits.

After re-installing it (apparently) works OK!
