Bug Description
Drizzle currently offers for download source tar, rpm and deb of each release.
Historically MySQL has also offered a binary tar files. The main use case for those seems to be:
- many just like to install mysql in /usr/local/mysql as their primary method.
- in particular this allows them to keep many installations lying around in /usr/local/, switching between them with a symlink. With Deb/Rpm you can only keep one version installed.
- it is possible to keep several versions of drizzle installed at the same time, such as both stable version and development or beta version.
It would probably increase drizzle adoption if users were offered this option.
