Pavol, could you try it with a .png instead of svg, also try any other already exisiting .svg icon as well.

Hi, I have tried it with 48x48 icon also (.png) and normal size png, also I make png icon pixel by pixel in gimp to have sharp shapes, but it was blurred too

For example second one is my app with gwibber.svg icon (I have no .desktop file for app)

Pavol, you might want to ask someone in #ayatana IRC channel, you
would get better help there

I am experiencing the same problem with a Java application I am writting. The application icon appears blurred. I tried using the same icon as Firefox, and it still appeared blurred. I attached a screenshot showing the two icons next to each other. In the screenshot, the first Firefox icon belongs to the browser; the second Firefox icon, just below it, belongs to the Java application. They both use the same PNG image, but the icon of the Java application appears blurred.

I think it is reasonable to consider the issue a Unity bug.
