Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nv

Hello, I've a very old monitor, 13 inch I'll think. The Live-CD from Ubuntu 6.10 don't support my monitor, the resolution or the frequention is wrong.

Sorry, I failed to properly guide this bloke into filing a proper bug report. My appologies.

The card he used is as follows (lspci | grep VGA):
0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV5M64 [RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro] (rev 15)

Editing the xorg.conf and lowering the resolutions did fix the issue, so the problem is clearly the autodetect which uses too high resolutions by default.

Ik snap er niet zo heel veel van.

Is this issue still occurring on gutsy-beta? If so, could you attach your xorg.conf, Xorg.0.log, the output from lspci -vvnn, xresprobe <driver>, and uname -a so it can be debugged further?

Hi, xresprobe is no longer used in Hardy Heron, the development version which will become Ubuntu 8.04. Because of that I'm closing this bug. Please test Hardy (alpha3 or later), and if your hardware still fails to get a correct resolution (or if it drops to failsafe mode), file a bug against the driver package (xserver-xorg-video-$driver). Thanks!
