Bug Description

On an Oneiric i386 system in a 3D Unity session with gnome-system-tools 2.32.0-0ubuntu7, I ran "users-admin" in a Terminal and got this crash, with the following output indicating that users-admin must be rebuilt for GTK+ 3.0:

Gtk-ERROR **: GTK+ 2.x symbols detected. Using GTK+ 2.x and GTK+ 3 in the same process is not supported
Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)

This is similar to bug 814060, except this affects users-admin instead of shares-admin. Perhaps this bug and bug 814060 should be considered the same bug, since users-admin and shares-admin are provided by the same source and binary packages. Or perhaps they should remain separate. I will leave that question to the triagers and developers.

While gnome-system-tools has been moved to the universe component in Oneiric, bugs that completely prevent its use are still highly problematic, in part because at least one major Ubuntu "flavor" -- Lubuntu -- has gnome-system-tools but not gnome-control-center (and does not provide anything near a full GNOME desktop, so installing gnome-control-center is not a good option for Lubuntu users). Lubuntu does not have official status at present, but is expected to get it as of Oneiric (see http://lubuntu.net/blog/lubuntu-track-official-status-ubuntu-flavour). I believe Xubuntu--which has been official for quite some time--also uses gnome-system-tools as the standard way to administer users and groups.

I am not sure Apport retracing service is correct in marking this as a duplicate of bug 789333, since bug 789333 is currently being considered to be a GNOME3 PPA bug and this bug is not a GNOME3 PPA bug. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-system-tools/+bug/789333/comments/8 (and possible future comments).
