Bug Description

In 2.6.38-10-generic-pae the problem does not exist, when I tried to move to 3.0.0-7, suspend (issued from pm-suspend or the menu option) causes the Scroll lock and the Caps lock to flash together and the machine to not work.

I believe also that the fan (of the laptop) doesn't work as well, but it is harder to confirm, as the fan speed cannot be observed easily and it cannot be monitored via software.

It sounds like you're hitting a kernel panic. Please run 'apport-collect 818520' from a terminal to attach relevant information to this bug report. Please also try booting with the no_console_suspend boot parameter, then run 'sudo pm-suspend' from virtual terminal 1 to see if a panic message is displayed on the screen. If you do see a panic message, please attach the text to the bug (photographing the screen and attaching the picture is one way you can do this).

Let me know if you need any help on any of the items above. Thanks!

Thank you for responding, should I run apport-collect under the problematic Linux Kernel or under a working one?

Does it matter?

You should run it under the kernel that's failing. This gives the data most relevant to the problem.
