it would be nice to have the option to deactivate the update/version checkup on program-start.

why not? :D (almost) every software with auto-update-function has the possibility.

almost every software wants to check for updates and reminds you about installing them. so, in many cases it is very useful to be up-to-date. but in some cases it could be annoying. so, i think the user should have a choice, which tools on his pc should be updatet automatically and which not.

hm... well okay. nevertheless i think it should be the users choice which software (and which version of it) is installed and used.

DC++ does NOT force you to install or update anyways it's a message to inform you that there is a newer version that can fix bugs or security exploits, so there's no forcing whatsoever just a message
