Bug Description

My gnome-terminal frequently does not getupdated. For instance, I'll type a command or an irc comment, but the terminal won't update until I hit ctrl-l (which sometimes does not work) or switch to another viewport and back.

Moving to nvidia-graphics-drivers, as that's most likely to be the culprit here.

affects: xorg (Ubuntu) → nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu)

Huh, that's very odd. When did this first start occurring?

If you upgraded to oneiric recently, did it occur in previous ubuntu installations?

Do you reproduce this only in gnome-terminal, or do you see it in other applications? Have you tried any other terminal programs such as xterm or terminator?

Does the behavior start immediately after booting and launching a terminal, or only after some period of time? When it starts happening does it happen continually or does it come and go?

If you create a guest session, are you able to reproduce the problem there?

Any other information you can elaborate on to help understand the problem?

No it didn't happen in natty. It is similar to what used to happen years
ago on an old thinkpad, 2009 or so. That was due to compiz, but then I
also saw it with firefox.

I haven't seen it in anything but gnome-terminal - but I only run xterm
in wmii (2-d), so that's not definitive. I've not seen it in firefox.

It comes and goes. I do think that it comes in clusters. (Sorry I've
not used unity on that laptop for at least a few days)

I'll give that a shot.

Sorry, no.

If you like, though that seems a little aggressive. I couldn't reproduce lately due to lack of access to the affect system. I got access to it again today, and yes the terminal still does it.

I can't test guest logins right now, since gnome/unity logins appear to
have been killed by my last update.

I forgot to add i'm using Precise and Nvidia 290.40 proprietary drivers. The issue doesn't happen on Nouveau.

That version is no more supported; please open a new bug report if the actual archive found version also has the same issue.
