Bug Description

I'm working on a hp-compaq 6710b laptop, my problem is that about twice a day the keyboard stops working during the gnome session, while using it.
Mouse works, so I have to close the session, return at logon screen and the keyboard begins to work again.
I didn't notice a particular event that triggers this behaviour, apparently it happens randomly.
Please tell me if I can give some kind of detail

Mhhhh... I guess I have same problem, and still no solution.
Could you please check, when your keyboard "seems" not working, just keep a key pressed for a second or 2 ?
In my case, the keyboard is not completely frozen, just lags. Keeping EACH key pressed for 0.5-1 second works.

Same here, I'm writing this post at the amazing speed of 0.3 keys / second.
It happens randomly but quite often.
The only solution so far is log out / log in gnome session.
Resetting via alt-F2 r doesn't work either.

Is this an issue with a shell extension, or ugr itself? Is this issue present in regular Ubuntu?

In my case the problem started when I installed gnome 3 from the ppa's

Same for me. Dell Precision M4500. I don't know when it started exactly, but I have the same problem with Gnome classic, Unity and Xfce. I also noticed that KDE hangs; not sure there is a relationship.

Affects me as well, after installing on Natty with ppa.
My remarks:
- the keyboard suddenly stops working
- pressing a key for approx. 1 second brings up the key (and subsequently more characters since the key is pressed)
- left ctrl doesn't work with this "press key"-trick, but right ctrl does
- gnome-shell --replace doesn't help
- switching to the console via ctrl-alt-f1 shows that the keyboard is working find outside of gnome-shell
- logging out and in again returns the keyboard control until the next time this bug occurs..

This issue was incorrectly reported in the wrong project.

I need a clear response from everyone on the following questions:
~ Did the issue ever happen with regular Ubuntu (after Ubuntu is installed, but BEFORE installing UGR)?
~ Did the issue happen while using the Ubuntu LiveCD?
~ What is the make and model of the computer this happens on?

It is possible that this bug is a bug in linux/Ubuntu, and not UGR. Please consider if any of the following are your bug:
