Bug Description

http://lists.debian.org/debian-amd64/2004/07/msg00018.html

The above post has information about a fixed that is needed for any non-alpha 64
bit platform. Without the fix mentioned in the above post (unknown if upstream
has fix already or not yet) sound is extremely distorted and jarring to the
listener when playing mod files using xmms which uses libmikmod2 under Ubuntu on
my amd64 box.

I realise the post I linked to is for libsdl-mixer1.2, but it also applies to
libmikmod2 as well. Except in this case, mikmod.h.in is being patched, instead
of mikmod.h

I should note that to fix this on my own box, I:

* did an apt-get source libmikmod2
* applied the aforementioned patch by hand to the sources
* did a dpkg-buildpackage
* installed the new resulting packages

I noticed this problem because it affected xmms when playing back mod files.

I might note that it appears a more recent, maintained version of mikmod can be
found here:
