The second scan times out on Oneiric on both my computers. By turning Bluetooth on and off, I can scan once again. When testing my iMac on Natty, I can scan as many times as I like without timing out.

I first discovered the bug when trying simplescan.c http://people.csail.mit.edu/albert/bluez-intro/c404.html#bzi-choosing

Is there any chance that the patch will be back ported to Oneiric?

It would be a big shame if Oneiric shipped with broken Bluetooth.

I've not had this issue recently. Has it been patched?

This is reported against an old version of Ubuntu and many things has changed since then. Because of that we won't fix this issue however if this behavior repeats on a modern version please fill a bug report against it and we will take it from there.
