Bug Description

There is no way to search for bugs that do _not_ have a particular tag set.

As context, Steve suggested that we map one of the Zope collector "Deferred" bug statuses to a "deferred" bug tag. But the way the Zope developers use the state at the moment, they'd usually want to filter out these bugs from their bug listings. To do this with a bug tag, they'd need to be able to search for all bugs that didn't have the "deferred" tag set.

Untargetting this for now, since this keeps slipping. Will retarget again, when we have a better grip of 2.0.

Was just looking for some way to do this today. It would be helpful if there was a default tag available in the tag list called something like "No Tag Applied".

This way I could click that, see a list of bugs without any tag on them, and then go through and add tags to help me categorize them. So as someone working on bugs in a project I might go through once a day and see about tagging bugs that have no tags to help triage things

Since - and + are not allowed as the first character of a tag, I would guess that -tagname would be an obvious syntax.

This is also highly anticipated by the platform team, to filter out "apport-crash" bugs from bug lists.

I just saw that there are two different requests here: (1) search for bugs without a given tag, and (2) search for bugs without _any_ tags. From the platform team's perspective we are more interested in (1).

Martin, a branch to fix both of those problems has been reviewed and
is nearly ready to land :) Might be in edge tomorrow...

This seems fixed released to me as I can use the search successfully. However, I'm hesitant to change the status as it is mentioned as being fixed in r8572 and edge is on 8193.

The fix is in db-devel and db-stable r8148, and in devel and stable
r8572. The fact that the functionality is available is enough to
convince me that it's released though :)
