Bug Description

Well, I don't think this bug needs a long and detailed description. Like the title says it icons in Dash aren't resizable. Their current size is nice and everything, but still option for them to be resizable wouldn't hurt anyone, would it?

On my 22" monitor their current size is Huge and on my laptop appear Humongous. Being hard coded is not good.

The option to resize via compiz would be a solution via the unity plugin.

not sure about resizeable but after today's update of unity the icon size in the dash will be 64px from 48px.

i feel that large icons (although nice for tablet use) do not work well with most tasks I need to accomplish at the office. It just does not look professional.

they are so big on my eeepc that they disappear off screen. no way to know what those icons are or to reach the ones that are offscreen. this issue crops up in a numbers of places where there are non-resizable windows of icons where many are unreachable. disappointing release.

I totally agree, I'm also stuck with this lack of feature.
I actually love unity, it fits both my desktop and tablet.
However it's a bit ironic that even though it's made to match multiple device, the menu does not fit on my netbook or tablet.
If icons were resizable, and the dash window as well, all would be perfect.
See screenshot.

This is my last remaining gripe with unity 3D. Default icons in the Launcher, Dash and Desktop are too big for a regular Desktop/Notebook. Dash needs a configuration tool for icon, text and screen sizes. Transparency control is also a big problem Dash is unusable with most desktop backgrounds.

At a minimum, a resize option is badly needed as the default will only be 'nice' on some platforms. On my laptop it they are gigantic. I would like to be able to dump them altogether. I can read program names and find items that way 100 times faster than trying to decipher an icon. I guess I am just an old guy that learned to read before the days of icons and so am not bothered by text. With a pull down menu I can find an item in a list of maybe 40 in just a couple of seconds and not have to do any scrolling. It is all fitting on the pull down . It is an awful lot of scrolling to get through 40 giant icons to find something. This seems like MSWindows. The large icon system on a tablet is necessary because you can't 'click' on small text, but tablets have touch screens. There is a huge inefficiency for desktop/laptop keyboard/mouse usage when you don't have a touch screen.

Opps sorry screen shot above is here:

and I recommend the following as improvements to the Unity Lens interface:

1) Provide Unity ICON size adjustment
2) Provide Unity ICON Text size adjustment
3) Provide Unity ICON mouse over text describing the item
4) Provide a Unity Lens right side scroll widget (like normal Ubuntu windows) for Laptop users without a mouse!

This would be one of those cliched "low-hanging-fruits", providing a big bang for a small effort. An easy fix which would go a long way in improving the UX and customer experience. But no, six years on, people are still asking for this.

And then some wonder why Linux doesn't get more acceptance with the general populace.
