Yes. I'm using metacity. And focus follow mouse. Anyway, I was trying to click
on the input area of the applet without luck.

Is the text entry widget enabled? If it is an active widget (normally a white
background) then this looks like a metacity/panel bug, if it is disabled (light
grey background normally) then the applet has lost its connection to
evolution-data-server.

It was not enabled. As far as i remember, it was grey. Now, I'm not able to
reproduce it.

It gets grey everytime gnome starts. Then, if you kill the applet and restart it
again, it works fine. The problem arrises everytime I start gnome.

Proposed patch

AFAICT, at no moment during the applet start the applet opens an address book.
It does so only when the source gconf key is changed...

(oups, just noticed that I've used the wrong bug number in the changelog)

are you sure that's this bug ? contact-lookup-applet need to be adapted to build
the new evolution-data-server in hoary, it should not work at all ...

Latest everything; sloppy focus in metacity: Actually works fine, but the only
way to focus it is with a ctrl-alt-tab to the panel. If that works, then typing
in it will work, and the matches appear fine.

You can actually cut/paste to it with just the mouse, but as it isn't focused it
won't search.
