I think that append due to python upgrade : python 2.5 is installed

I edit jack script, /usr/bin/jack and change the first line with #!/usr/bin/python2.4 and now it work !

Yes for Hardy 8.04, i discover the problem when i upgrade from 7.10.
For Intrepid 8.10, i don't know.

Works for me, for the record:

I tested both a fresh Intrepid install on my eee 1000 and a fresh
Hardy install (on Amazon EC2). Both ran "jack --help" OK with the
installed version of python.

$ sudo apt-get install jack

$ jack --help
 *warning* ogg module not installed, ogg support disabled
This is jack 3.1.1 (C)2004 Arne Zellentin <email address hidden>
...

$ python --version
Python 2.5.2

$ ls -l /usr/bin/python
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 2009-02-13 10:34 /usr/bin/python -> python2.5

$ lspci | grep -i audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)
