Bug Description

All MBROLA voices are too low. Even female voices such as us1 sound like deep bass males.
padsp espeak -p 99 -v us1 "Hello world"
padsp espeak -p 99 -v mb-en1 "Hello world"
espeak -p 99 -v mb-en1 "Hello world"

After a fresh reinstall of espeak and mbrola:

michael@doulos:~$ espeak -p 99 -v mb-en1 "Hello world"
mbrola: Binary number format error
mbrola: You are probably using a version of /usr/share/mbrola/voices/en1 incompatible

This problem does not occur with Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric.

The problem with earlier versions may be because eSpeak is looking for the mbrola voice files in the wrong location. Try moving or copying the voice file /usr/share/mbrola/us1/us1 to /usr/share/mbrola/voices/us1

Alternatively, use eSpeak version 1.45.04 or later, from the Ubuntu Oneiric repository, or from http://espeak.sourceforge.net
