Bug Description

I use Ubuntu 11.04. I can't install the programme from the original CD that supports UBUNTU/DEBIAN LINUX, 350MHz, 256MB RAM. Tried using Edit>Add CD-ROM in Synaptic Package Manager. But it can't mount the CD. No problem with the CD. (Checked in 'Windows' in another Computer. Working smoothly.) In my system the result is:

E: Unable to stat the mount point /media/cdrom/ - stat (2: No such file or directory)
E: Unable to stat the mount point /media/cdrom/ - stat (2: No such file or directory)
E: Failed to mount the cdrom.

Please open a Terminal window and run this command:

apport-collect 814452

That will attach some relevant information to this bug report.

(Once the information is attached, the apport-collected tag will be automatically added to this bug. At that point, unless additional information is requested here which is not provided, please feel free to change this bug's status back from Incomplete to New.)

status: New → Incomplete

I don't want to allow to Access my Launchpad Account for one day. But can I access it after tomorrow? If 'yes', I wish to do so.

If I choose "Do not allow (my)-desktop to Access my Launchpad Account", how can I contact Launchpad or know the replies?

I am not sure I understand your question. Can you explain the problem in greater detail?

Regarding https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/814452/comments/7:

Like actionparsnip, I see no reason to think https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+question/166272 has anything to do with this bug. The situation you described in that question is the case on all Ubuntu systems; it is completely normal. See actionparsnip's and my answers in the question for further information.

Sorry for the Delay. I didn't see this message. Even after the fresh Installation of a new Hard Drive the problem is still there. Need any new information?

For a few weeks I used/tried an old version of Ubuntu. Experienced the same problem. So there may be some fault somewhere.

What are you trying to install, exactly? Are you trying to install Ubuntu, or are you trying to install some software onto an existing Ubuntu system?

We need to figure out what part of Ubuntu this bug affects, and what specific steps you are able to carry out to produce it. Then it should be possible for others to see if they can reproduce the bug, and then for a developer to work on the bug. Until the first two pieces of information are provided, I am marking this bug as Incomplete, so that it is clear that information is missing. This should help us to make sure to continue asking you specific clarification questions until we have all the info we need, rather than letting this bug languish without any action taken on it.

I'm looking in https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+question/165452 and some of the information I have requested appears to be provided there. Please let us know if that information is still current, and please provide any information **in this bug** that you provided in that question and believe is relevant to this bug. Your bug report should itself be as complete and self-contained as possible. Please also clarify here whether or not you are able to access any files on any CD's or DVD's at all--from your question, it appears that this problem may be related to accessing media in your optical drive, and not specific to installing Ubuntu or Ubuntu packages. Please also let us know if this problem occurs when you use the Software Center rather than Synaptic.
