Subject: mozilla-
Package: mozilla-thunderbird
Version: 0.8-1
Severity: important
I'm running a mixed sarge and unstable system. I upgraded to thunderbird
0.8-1 today. It fails to open any of my mail folders. The server is
courier-imap. Thunderbird 0.8 on both OS X and Windows are fine, so I
don't think it's a server problem. The previous version (7.3.6) worked
fine.
Thunderbird brings up my folder list but then says "Opening folders..."
and keeps going indefinitely w/o displaying mail.
Thanks,
Richard

We'll need to sync thunderbird for the security fixes, but this bug (whatever it
is) needs resolution first

Looks for me as you need to remove the compreg.dat file from your
profile folder. If that does not help either, try to remove the chrome
directory too!

I think I found the problem. I will upload a new package in a few hours!
Would be great if you could verify if this solve the upgrade issues for
you too!

I just verified this myself. Upgrading from the Warty version to 0.8.1 breaks,
but upgrading to 0.8-2 works.
So this particularly bad regression seems to be fixed; however, wouldn't it be
better to just backport the security fix instead of syncing a whole new upstream
version? I can do the backport.

For things as evil as mozilla-* I think we should try and keep getting new
upstreams as long as possible, just to reduce the pain in future...
