rootstock no longer works

I failed to get rootstock to work by running
sudo rootstock --fqdn omap --login ubuntu --password temppwd --imagesize 2G --seed build-essential,curl,wget,nano,linux-firmware,wireless-tools,usbutils --dist maverick --serial ttyO2 --components "main universe multiverse" --kernel-image http://rcn-ee.net/deb/maverick/v2.6.37.2-x3/linux-image-2.6.37.2-x3_1.0maverick_armel.deb

as I do get very far before the script crashes and the only error given below

E: Failed getting release file http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/dists/maverick/Release
chroot: failed to run command `debootstrap/debootstrap': No such file or directory

suprisingly when I run the script using --no-root the script runs for quite some time but fails and the log file attached

I have run the script in a new installation of ubuntu maverick and natty obtained from
https://launchpad.net/project-rootstock/trunk/+ubuntupkg but get the same error

this error was obtained when running with the --no-root option
