Same problem here in Beagleboard XM. Server and JamVM work, cacao doesn't.

Can you retest if cacao from the oneiric 6b23~pre11-0ubuntu1.11.10 update work for you (latest security update)?

We belive this bug have been fixed when using cacao compiled from icedtea6 source that include this upstream changeset:
